What is a Side Hustle?

A side hustle is a job or gig that you do part-time along with your primary job to make extra income. Most people have a side hustle to pay for a vacation, Christmas, car, etc. We are going to discuss side hustle that you can use to help pay off debt.

If you like writing or want to start a business in something you are passionate about, a blog is an excellent way to get started. You make passive income with blogs by providing your products, affiliate products, and ads. Blogging is something that takes time and patience, and you will not see profits by only posting one time. As you share more and more content, search engines will monetize your site, and you will gain traffic, which will build your audience.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is promoting other people’s products for a commission of the purchase. The best thing about it is that affiliate marketing has many categories to pick from to get started, and you don’t have to create any products of your own. All you have to do is recommend or promote the product to others.

Rewards Programs

You can make extra money by doing things you already do online. There are two reward programs that I recommend, and that is Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars.

Swagbucks is a consumer rewards program that gives you points for completing small tasks that you would typically do online like shopping, searching the internet, or watching videos. You can convert these points into gift cards or PayPal cash.
Swagbucks is free to join and offers a $10 sign up bonus when you open an account with them. If you like to learn more about Swagbucks, please read my review here.

Inbox Dollars is a rewards website that pays you money for completing small tasks on their site. These tasks are things that you would normally do online, like watching videos, checking your email, or shopping. Inbox Dollars is free to join and offers a $5 sign ups bonus when you open an account with them. If you like to learn more about Inbox Dollars, please read my review here.

Another good side hustle is becoming a transcriptionist. A transcriptionist is a person who listens to audio files and converts it into text. These audios can be legal, medical, education, and more. Transcriptionist are usually paid around $10 – $30 an hour, depending on your level of experience. If you are interested in becoming a transcriptionist, I recommend trying out Go Transcript and Transcribe Anywhere.

If you enjoy taking photos or if you are a photographer, you can use your photos to sell to others. There are stock photo websites that you can sell your photos for people looking for pictures for their websites. This is a great way to build passive income because you can sell those photos over and over. If you are interested in selling your photos I recommend trying out the following websites:

Customer Service Representative

If you love helping others over the phone, you can apply to become a customer service representative from home. There are a lot of companies online that are hiring customer service representatives, and most of the schedules are flexible so that you can do it in your spare time. Customer Service Representatives are usually paid around $13 – $17 an hour. If you are interested in becoming a customer service representative from home, I recommend trying out these companies:

Brand Ambassador

Becoming a Brand Ambassador is similar to affiliate marketing. Brand Ambassadors’ use a company’s brand by posting it on their social media accounts. This can be by video or pictures of them using the brand. In return, the company provides the ambassador with an affiliate link to promote the brand, and they earn a commission. There are a variety of companies looking for brand ambassadors the best way to find the job is by searching for brand ambassadors jobs.

YouTube Channel

YouTube is a very popular way to make passive income. You can create your channel in something you are knowledgeable and passionate about and grow your audience. There are many topics you can create a channel in, i.e., reviews, how-tos, gaming, and more. As I stated above, with blogging, posting one video is not going to generate passive income overnight. You have to build your view count by providing more videos to grow your audience and ad revenue. As your view count gets higher, you can make more money with product endorsement.

Create An Online Store

If you know how to create your own products or if you are good a designing products, you can build your own store online. Shopify is a great place to get started; they really simplify things and teach you step by step on how to get started. Then you can use Social Media to recommend your products or design to build your audience. If you are interested in building your own store, I recommend checking out Shopify and Etsy.

Create An Online Course

Similar to creating how-to e-Books, you can create an online course in something you are knowledgeable and passionate about and teach others. You can do this by making videos or providing step-by-step guidance. You can start by giving a snippet of your course for free and then offer the full course when your customers are ready to take the next step. If you are interested in creating your own online course, I recommend checking out Udemy and Teachable.

My #1 Side Hustle

My number one side hustle is blogging and affiliate marketing. These two side hustles work together because, in order for you to be profitable with blogging, you need affiliate marketing or your own products to promote. I’m not good at creating my own products, so I use products others have created and make a commission off each sale. Blogging works well with my schedule, it is flexible, and I have a lot of fun creating content and helping others. If you are passionate about the niche of your blog, you will have fun creating content as well.

Final Words

All ten of the side hustles mention above will help you make extra money to help pay off your debt. You will just have to find a side hustle that you are comfortable in doing, and that works well with your schedule and family.
